Norm Frank Status Update Print E-mail
August 12 - Norm Frank, America’s most prolific marathoner with 965 marathon and ultramarathon finishes, has moved to Legacy at Clover Blossom, an assisted living home near Mercy High School.  Norm continues to have balance problems and gets about using a walker or wheel chair.  Aside from the balance issues, Norm is in good health and is adjusting well to his new home.  Norm would love to hear from his friends in the GRTC.  Here’s his contact information:

Background.  At the end of last year, Norm had series of mini-strokes (TIA / transient ischemia attack).  He was hospitalized in New Port Richey, FL (his home base for winter marathons).  His son Mark brought him back to Rochester.  When Norm’s symptoms recurred, Mark checked him into Strong.  Norm was at Strong for about a month.  Finally the doctors determined that a heart valve infection was triggering the mini-strokes.  The infection was treated with antibiotics.  After Norm was moved to the Jewish Home for rehabilitation, the balance problem showed up.  It is believed that a side effect of the antibiotics was damage to his inner ears.
