Run for Pete Glavin Print E-mail
Tribute to Pete Glavin - Well over 100 friends of Pete Glavin ran 5K yesterday (March 20th) in tribute to him and his contributions to running in the Greater Rochester and Western New York areas.  The run started at West Irondequoit High School and ended at Sunset House, where everyone got to say hello to Pete and share some memories from times past.

Pete is a GRTC Hall of Fame member and co-founder of the Genesee Valley Harriers.  He has been a major force in bringing post-collegiate cross country to this area.  He initiated the Cobb's Hill Summer XC races, sponosred by Innovative Edge, as well as the Upstate Cross Country Series races.  As part of GVH, he was also a major reason why the USATF Cross Country Club Nationals were held in Rochester.  As a race director, he has directed the prestigious McQuaid Invitational for the past several years, in addition to the Medved 5K to Cure ALS and the Medved Lilac Festival 5K & 10K.

Yesterday's run showed just how much the running community appreciates Pete's dedication and efforts!
