Jennifer Stuczynski – Silver in the Pole Vault Print E-mail

stuczynski_jenn.jpgWestern New York’s own Jennifer Stuczynski excelled at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain on March 8th.  In the final, Jenn had no misses through 15 feet 5 inches.  At 15 feet 7 inches, Russian world record-holder Yelena Isinbaeva cleared the height on her first attempt.  Jenn was the only other vaulter to make the height, getting over on her second attempt.  The height was a Personal Best for her indoors.

Both vaulters had three misses at 15 feet 11 inches, ending the competition tied at the 15 feet 7 inches height.  Based on the tiebreaker of fewest misses, the Russian got the gold and Jenn the silver medal.
